Mission Statement
County Roscommon Disability Support Group CLG is committed to improving the quality of life and the standards of services to all people with disabilities, older people and children. Support is also available for families and carers.
Statement of Purpose
To aid and assist with the enhancement of the quality of life of all people, as appropriate.
Objectives
The main objectives for which the Group is established are:
- To promote training, education and general rehabilitation and welfare of people with disabilities and older people;
- To promote the co-ordination and integration of services for people with disabilities and older people;
- To develop services for people with disabilities and older people according to their changing and or developing needs;
- To provide a Personal Assistant, Home Support, Assisted Living Service and or associated services to people with disabilities and older people in their home, workplace or socially
- To promote disability awareness and the philosophy of Independent Living among the general public;
- To provide a structured programme of information, advice, support and advocacy services for service users, staff, carers and families in respect of their rights, benefits and entitlements;
- To promote and provide person-centred flexible learning and training in partnership if appropriate, to people of all abilities.

Jim Ganly - Chairperson
Retired Production Engineer. Currently Chairperson of Derrane Parish Council and Treasurer/Director of Réaltín Roxboro Pastoral Council Co Ltd. Actively involved with County Roscommon Historical & Archaeological Society.
Kevin McBrien - Director
Former CEO of Co. Roscommon VEC and current chairperson of Roscommon MABS. Regional president and member of the national management council for the society of St. Vincent de Paul.
Michael Cleary - Academic Sub Board Rep.
Retired principal of Roxboro N.S. Former member of national executive of the Irish Primary Principals Network. Chairperson of St. Faithleachs G.A.A. Club. Former officer of Roscommon G.A.A. County Board. Active member of the Join Our Boys Trust. Member of Ballyleague Parish Council.
Margaret Treacy - Asst. Secretary & Vice-Treasurer
Housewife. Volunteers in Community Games, local Church and Pastoral Council. Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) with Roscommon Civil Defence. Member of the Roscommon Solstice Choir.
Hugh Farrell - Director
Hugh has gained over 40 years experience whilst employed by the Western Health Board, now HSE, and Irish Wheelchair Association in a variety of management levels. He has a ken interest in Disability and Community matters and is a member of a number of Boards and Committees in this area.
Charmaine Goh - Director
Charmaine is an HR Generalist for a global tech company and is passionate about people and communities. Originally from Canada, Charmaine moved to Ireland two years ago and has loved getting to know more about this country and it's people.
Edward Harte - Vice Chairperson
Retired Civil Servant, having worked in the Department of Education, Property Registration Authority and the State Examinations Commission.
Edel Butler - Director
Edel is a qualified solicitor and a chartered tax advisor with over 10 years post qualification experience as a tax consultant. Edel currently works with the Revenue Commissioners in Revenue's Legislation Service.
Community Employment (CE)
RSG provides employment and training opportunities for those who would like to work in the Health and Social Care Sector on it’s Community Employment (CE)* project.
Positions available on our CE project include:
- Personal Assistants – to work with people with physical and or sensory disabilities.
- Caretakers/Grounds persons
- Clerical Support
- IT Support
Training is fully funded including all components of QQI Level 5 in Healthcare Support and Business Administration. Mentoring and support will be provided towards progression to full time work or education.
Training and work experience will also be provided to enhance work opportunities to work with the HSE or HSE funded agencies. RSG has a proven track record of CE employees progressing into full-time employment.
